Vettel Swipes F1 World Championship
It was telling about the nature this year’s world championship when James Allen lead with the comment in yesterday post-race press conference ‘Sebastain, you’ve lead the world championship once this season, today’. A surprising statistic that illustrated that although Vettel won the World Championship on Sunday, he had not once lead the championship up until that point.
2010 really was on a knife edge, that was evident from the fact that there were four drivers all with a chance of taking the championship at the final race, a feat that hasn’t occurred since 1960. Whether this was achieved through the new points system or the fact that every driver made mistakes along the way, it certainly made 2010 one of the most exciting seasons ever.
Sebastain Vettel is the youngest ever F1 world champion, stealing the crown from Lewis Hamilton who previously held the record, taking the 2008 World Championship. Vettel probably only recently got temporary car insurance on his first motor and soon after found himself in title contention. The victory was well played out and came despite a spate of accidents both mechanical and driver-error orientated.
Alsono was incensed after the race, not with his team who seemingly couldn’t even perform the task of getting a short term van insurance quote after making poor strategy decisions, but with Russian driver Vitaly Petrov who Alosno failed to pass for most of the race. Webber will be even more frustrated with himself after failing to finish any higher than eight, having looked a shoe-in for the championship a few races ago.
Hamilton faced the least pressure of the four, he had to win the race to take the title which he could have done had he not been held up behind back markers. Lewis will come to regret the mistakes he made in Italy, Singapore and Japan.
One thing is for sure, if next season is anything like this one we are in for a treat, and the driver had better make sure they have short term car insurance on their cars!
